He went on to complete medical school and an ophthalmology residency at Queen’s Universi
David Almeida, M.D., M.B.A, Ph.D completed an Honors Bachelor of Science, specializing in Toxicology, at the University of Toronto. After undergraduate studies, he completed a PhD in Pharmaceutical Drug Research at the University of Szeged in Hungary. He went on to complete medical school and an ophthalmology residency at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. Next, an interest in healthcare administration led Dr. Almeida to complete an MBA at The George Washington University School of Business in Washington, D.C. He then completed a 2-year vitreoretinal diseases and surgery fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Dr. Almeida joined VitreoRetinal Surgery, PA (Minneapolis, Minnesota) in July 2015.
Dr. Almeida is a dedicated and personable vitreoretinal surgeon with extensive research experience and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and over 75 national and international conference presentations. He is both a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Almeida’s special research interests include vitreomacular interface physiology and pathology, macular hole surgery, and infectious uveitis and endophthalmitis. He has received numerous awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, University of Iowa, American Society of Retina Specialists, Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Vit-Buckle Society, VitreoRetinal Surgery Foundation, Retina Foundation of Canada, Queen’s University, Canadian Ophthalmological Society, and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
Eric K. Chin, M.D. is a Board Certified ophthalmologist and a native of Northern California. He graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering. He received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California Davis, and

He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California Davis, and his surgical vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Iowa. During his residency and fellowship, he was awarded several accolades for his teaching and research in imaging and novel treatments for various retinal diseases.
Dr. Chin is trained in all aspects of vitreoretinal medicine and surgery, as well as uveitis and ocular tumors. He serves as Clinical Faculty at Loma Linda University and the Loma Linda Veterans Affairs Hospital where he teaches residents as well as gives lectures. He has numerous publications in major ophthalmic journals and textbooks. He is a member of many professional societies and a reviewer for several peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals.
